I fell in love with yoga in my first class in 1999. There seemed to be something almost magical about the practice of yoga, bringing me to a sense of peacefulness and balance, always feeling better walking out of a class than I did on my way in.
Within six months I began studying with a variety of local teachers, and taking workshops from nationally known teachers as they were available… reading, studying, learning all I could about this ancient and sacred practice.
With the encouragement and assistance of Mary Kay Parce, I began teaching near the end of 2001… first at Rocky Mountain Fitness, and when it opened- the Yoga Pilates Center.
My intention in teaching is to share my love of the practice, and its myriad benefits with others, and to pass along all I continue to learn. I always take into consideration the experience levels and current needs of students attending class.
I completed my 200 RYT with Camille Thom through Yoga Alliance in August 2008. Continuing gratefully along this yogic path, I will probably always consider myself a beginner. To quote Suzuki Roshi, “In the beginner’s mind there are many possibilities. In the experts there are few.” I strive to keep my heart and mind open to the wisdom of my students and their experiences, to my teachers, my own body-mind-spirit, to the practice of yoga, and life itself.
In addition to yoga I am passionate about creativity. Art, calligraphy and design, writing- are each expressions of my gratitude for life. I treasure time with dear friends- and family: husband Bob, sons, Nicholas 23 and Aaron 19, and a great assortment of extended family. I love being outdoors, rafting, gardening, walking, reading, or just hanging out. I have a great collection rocks and of quotes- my all time favorite is this:
“Just to be is a blessing. Just to live is holy.” Abraham Heschel.
